What is the RideEyed Performance Value Index (rPVI)?
A car's RideEyed Performance Index (rPI) is used to compare its performance to another car. How do they compare if price is a consideration?
The RideEyed Performance Value Index, or rPVI, adds price as a fifth factor to the rPI:
The price is the car’s new Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) in US Dollars. For prior years, the price is inflation adjusted using the January values of the BLS Consumer Price Index. The 100,000 multiplied at the end just shifts the index from a decimal that’s less than one to a number that can be rounded to a wide range of whole numbers.
The 2005 Lotus Elise MSRP was $42,990. Inflation adjusted to 2021, the price comes in at $58,969. Consequently, the rPVI is:
